Refer to this help section when you run Tracker™ and attempt ANY OPERATION WHICH REQUIRES THAT A PATIENT BE SELECTED (i.e. selecting a patient, entering exam data, generating reports), and Tracker crashes with the following message:

Tracker has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

This error signature includes

AppName: tracker.exe
ModName: kernel32.dll

The Tracker Version 4 software can generate errors during various database related functions if database settings are not consistent in both the Trackme.ini file and the BDE Administrator.  Verify that the values are consistent for all of the following listings.

BDE ADMINISTRATOR

  1. Navigate to the Windows Control Panel
     b)  Open the "BDE Administrator" item from the list
2a)  Verify that the listing for "Tracker" (in the Databases list) has a PATH value that matches the known database location.  This is typically a mapped path.
     b)  If this is not correct, it can be modified manually or by using the application DBSEL.EXE
    3) In the Windows "Start" menu, choose "Run" and type the filename TRACKME.INI.   Click OK.
4a) The TRACKME.INI file will appear.  Navigate to the [Databases] section of the file and find the following references

Directory=
NetDirectory=

The path which follows each listing should match exactly with the path which was verified in step 2a.

 b)  If the path does not match the known database location and the path in step 2a, modify it manually

NOTE: IF THE NETDIRECTORY REFERENCES A PATH THAT DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST, THIS CAN CAUSE TRACKER TO CRASH TO THE DESKTOP WHEN THE DATABASE IS ACCESSED
